The game at Purcell Pavilion saw the home team take control early on. The first quarter ended with the Fighting Irish slightly ahead at 17-15. However, it was during the third quarter that Notre Dame truly dominated, outscoring Louisville by a staggering 20 points which significantly contributed to their final lead.

Louisville's performance showcased resilience and effort despite falling behind. They managed to accumulate a total of 58 points throughout the game with a field goal percentage of 38 and were particularly effective from the free-throw line with an impressive accuracy rate of nearly four-fifths. Their efforts in paint resulted in 24 points but were overshadowed by turnovers which amounted to seventeen instances where possession was lost.

The rebounding battle was closely contested; however, Louisville fell short with thirty-one rebounds compared to Notre Dame's thirty-six.

Notre Dame capitalized on their opportunities effectively as they shot over half their attempts successfully from within the arc and maintained a solid fifty percent field goal rate overall. Their three-point shots also found their mark more frequently than those of Louisville’s as they achieved a thirty-six percent success rate from beyond the arc.

The statistics reflect both teams' performances on court: while Louisville had an assists turnover ratio below half at approximately zero point four (0.38), Notre Dame demonstrated better ball distribution and care with an assists turnover ratio double that of Louisville’s (0.8). Personal fouls were frequent for both sides; however, neither team experienced foulouts or ejections during playtime.
