In a closely contested encounter at the Humphrey Coliseum, the LSU Lady Tigers, ranked 9th, fell short against the unranked Mississippi State Bulldogs with a final score of 73-77. The LSU Lady Tigers now hold a record of 9-1 while the Bulldogs improve to 1-9. Despite an aggressive game that saw the lead change hands eight times and was tied seven times, it was ultimately not enough for victory.

LSU Tigers VS Mississippi State Bulldogs

The LSU Lady Tigers started strong with an opening quarter tally of 18 points but found themselves trailing by two as the Bulldogs put up 20. The second quarter saw an improved effort from LSU with 22 points scored; however, they still faced a halftime deficit as their opponents managed to keep pace. The third quarter proved pivotal as Mississippi State surged ahead with an impressive 28 points to LSU's respectable but insufficient 17. In the final period of play, both teams battled fiercely on court, yet it was Mississippi State who maintained their lead despite being outscored by one point in this last quarter.

The statistics reveal that while both teams were evenly matched in many aspects of their performance, certain areas stood out. The Lady Tigers excelled in creating turnovers and capitalizing on them with a total of 27 points off turnovers compared to Mississippi State's 23. They also dominated inside scoring heavily with a remarkable contribution of 48 points in paint.

Defensively speaking, steals were abundant for LSU as they racked up an impressive total of seventeen throughout the game which is indicative of their tenacious defense strategy; however this did not translate into overall control as they ended up losing more possessions due to twenty-one turnovers against them.

On offense, field goal attempts for LSU amounted to sixty-five shots making forty-five percent overall including fifty-one percent from two-point range which is commendable but overshadowed by Mississippi State's superior fifty-three percent shooting accuracy from beyond the arc resulting in nine three-pointers made.

Rebounding was another area where both teams showed parity; however slight edges could be seen - thirty-four personal rebounds for LSU compared to twenty-eight for MSST and equal offensive rebounds at seventeen each signifying hard-fought battles under both baskets throughout this intense matchup.

Looking ahead after this tough loss on foreign hardwoods fans can look forward to seeing how their team will bounce back when they host Florida Gators at Pete Maravich Assembly Center located in Baton Rouge LA scheduled on February fourth at two o'clock PM Eastern Time broadcast nationally on SEC Network channel six hundred eleven ensuring all supporters have access whether near or far from home court action awaits!
