The Minnesota Golden Gophers faced a challenging contest against the visiting Iowa Hawkeyes, with the latter securing a dominant victory. The game concluded with a score of 108-60 in favor of the Hawkeyes. The home team's record now stands at 0-1, while the visitors improved to 1-0.

The match-up at Williams Arena saw an impressive offensive display by the Iowa Hawkeyes, who shot an outstanding 62 percent from the field and an exceptional 56 percent from beyond the arc. Their scoring was consistent throughout, opening with a strong first quarter lead of 30 points and maintaining their momentum to finish with 22 points in the fourth quarter.

The Golden Gophers struggled to find their rhythm offensively, shooting just 32 percent from field goal range and a mere 23 percent from three-point territory. Despite this, they showed proficiency from the free-throw line, making nine out of ten attempts for an impressive accuracy rate of 90 percent.

One bright spot for Minnesota was their performance on offensive rebounds where they collected thirteen compared to Iowa's nine. However, this effort did not translate into enough second chance points as they only managed six against Iowa's seven.

Defensively, both teams were active but it was Iowa who excelled with seven steals contributing to fourteen points off turnovers. In contrast, Minnesota had six steals leading to thirteen points off turnovers but could not contain Iowa's fast-paced offense which racked up thirty fast break points.

Assists also told a story of contrasting styles; while Minnesota tallied nine assists overall indicating more isolation plays than team efforts on offense, Iowa showcased excellent ball movement and teamwork with thirty assists across all quarters.
