Can Missouri Tigers Claw Back After Home Setback Against Auburn?

The Missouri Tigers faced a challenging encounter at Mizzou Arena, ending with a score of 70-59 in favor of the visiting Auburn Tigers. The home team's record now stands at 0-1, while the visitors improved to 1-0.

Missouri Tigers VS Auburn Tigers

In an intense matchup where both teams shared the same mascot name, it was the visiting side that managed to secure a victory. The Missouri Tigers struggled in the first half, trailing with scores of 8 and 13 in the first two quarters respectively. However, they showed resilience by rallying back with a dominant third quarter scoring 27 points but could not maintain that momentum into the fourth quarter where they only added another 11 points to their tally.

The home team's performance was marked by tenacity on defense as evidenced by their ten steals and three blocks. They also outperformed their opponents in assists with fifteen compared to twelve from Auburn. Despite this effort, Missouri fell short due to lower shooting percentages across all categories including field goals (40 percent), three-pointers (37 percent), and free throws (75 percent). Additionally, turnovers proved costly for Missouri who had twenty-two against Auburn's seventeen.

Auburn capitalized on these turnovers scoring twenty-four points off them which contributed significantly to their victory. Their shooting was more effective with forty-three percent from the field and an impressive eighty-seven percent from the free-throw line. They also dominated inside scoring twenty-eight points in paint compared to eighteen by Missouri.

Notably for Auburn, their fast break execution led them to score ten fast break points while Missouri managed six. Rebounding was another area where Auburn held an advantage securing thirty-five total rebounds over thirty by Missouri; this included twelve offensive rebounds which helped them gain fourteen second-chance points.

As fans look ahead after this tough loss at home, they can mark their calendars for when the Missouri Tigers will face off against Arkansas Razorbacks at Bud Walton Arena on February 18th at 3:00 PM Central Time Zone. This away game promises another opportunity for redemption and fans can catch all the action live as it unfolds.
