New Mexico Lobos and Pepperdine Waves Set to Clash at Firestone Fieldhouse in Women's Basketball Showdown

As the New Mexico Lobos prepare to face the Pepperdine Waves at Firestone Fieldhouse, fans are buzzing with anticipation for what promises to be an exhilarating game of women's basketball. The Lobos, coming off a decisive 76-59 victory over Texas Southern on November 7th, are looking to carry that momentum into their upcoming match.

Gonzaga Bulldogs VS New Mexico Lobos

The previous game saw the Lobos dominate in several key areas. They outrebounded their opponents by a significant margin, pulling down 50 rebounds compared to Texas Southern's 34. This rebounding prowess was complemented by an impressive shooting performance from beyond the arc where they hit nearly 41 percent of their three-point attempts. Additionally, they showcased their ability to distribute the ball effectively with 15 assists.

However, it wasn't all smooth sailing for UNM; turnovers were a glaring issue as they gave up possession 20 times against Texas Southern. Despite this, their defensive efforts were enough to mitigate any damage caused by turnovers as they racked up eight steals and five blocks while holding Texas Southern to just under 33 percent shooting from the field.

Looking ahead at Pepperdine Waves' home advantage at Firestone Fieldhouse could pose a challenge for UNM. The Waves will be looking to capitalize on any opportunity presented by UNM's turnover troubles and will likely apply pressure defensively in hopes of disrupting UNM’s offensive flow.

UNM must focus on maintaining possession and continue exploiting their rebounding strength if they wish to emerge victorious once more. Their ability to convert from long range will also be crucial in stretching Pepperdine’s defense and creating scoring opportunities inside.

The last time UNM faced adversity was during their encounter with Washington Huskies on March 20th where they fell short with a score of 56-67. It is essential that lessons have been learned from that loss – particularly how vital it is not only start strong but also maintain consistency throughout all four quarters.

With these strategies in mind and considering both teams’ recent performances, it seems reasonable that if UNM can tighten up ball security while continuing their dominance on the glass and beyond the perimeter line, fans can expect them not only compete but potentially secure another win for New Mexico basketball enthusiasts.

The action unfolds on November 9th at Firestone Fieldhouse located in Malibu at precisely eight o'clock PM Mountain Time (MT). Fans unable or preferring not attend can still catch live updates as there are no broadcast networks scheduled for this event.
