New Mexico Lobos and Utah State Aggies Set for Showdown in Women's Basketball at The Pit

As the New Mexico Lobos prepare to host the Utah State Aggies in a thrilling Women's Basketball matchup at The Pit, fans are buzzing with anticipation. The Lobos have been showing signs of dominance on their home court, and this upcoming game is expected to be no exception.

Utah State Aggies VS New Mexico Lobos

In their last encounter at The Pit on December 17 against Western New Mexico Mustangs, the Lobos secured a comfortable victory with a score of 71-47. Their performance was marked by an impressive defensive display that led to 16 steals and capitalized on turnovers, scoring 25 points off them. With an assist-to-turnover ratio just above one, it's clear that when they control possession, they can dictate the pace of the game.

The offensive end saw the Lobos making 10 out of 26 three-point attempts (38 percent), showcasing their ability to spread the floor and hit from deep. This outside shooting threat will be crucial against USU. Additionally, their free throw percentage stood at 61 percent – an area where there is room for improvement but not a significant concern given their ability to score from open play.

Comparatively, in their most recent game on December 22 against Gonzaga Bulldogs – ranked number 20 – UNM faced tougher competition and fell short with a final score of 56-67. Despite this loss, there were positive takeaways; they shot an impressive 86 percent from the free-throw line and continued to show resilience by fighting back throughout all four quarters.

The Aggies should not be underestimated though; they bring their own set of challenges that UNM must overcome. However, based on recent performances and home-court advantage at The Pit – known for its raucous atmosphere – it seems likely that UNM will come out strong.

Looking ahead to January 11th when these two teams clash under Albuquerque’s bright lights at The Pit starting at 7:00 PM local time (MT), fans should expect an intense battle as both teams vie for supremacy on court. For those unable to attend in person, details regarding broadcast networks or streaming services have yet to be announced but stay tuned as more information becomes available closer to game day.
