Lobos Outpaced by Broncos in a Fierce Court Battle at The Pit

However, it was during the third quarter that Boise State began to pull away by putting up 19 points against New Mexico's 15.
Despite being down going into the final stretch of play, New Mexico showed resilience and matched Boise State's output with another set of 16 points each in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately for Lobos fans hoping for a late comeback victory at home, time ran out before they could close the gap.
The statistics paint a clear picture of where challenges arose for New Mexico; shooting accuracy proved crucial as they managed only a field goal percentage of thirty-five percent compared to Boise State's forty-two percent. Additionally, from beyond the arc, New Mexico hit twenty-eight percent of their three-point attempts while Boise State converted thirty-eight percent.
New Mexico did show defensive strength with four blocks and six steals but struggled on turnovers with thirteen lost possessions versus eleven from Boise State. On rebounds too there was little to separate them – thirty-four gathered by New Mexico just shy of Boise State's thirty-six.
Boise State capitalized on fast breaks scoring eleven fast break points and maintained better ball distribution evidenced by fifteen assists over thirteen from New Mexico. They also made every free throw attempt (three), whereas New Mexico made eight out of ten free throws attempted – translating into an eighty percent success rate from the line.
