The match was characterized by intense competition and frequent lead changes, totaling five throughout the game. Both teams fought hard to establish control, resulting in seven instances where the score was tied. However, it was North Carolina State that managed to pull ahead significantly in the third quarter by outscoring Virginia by a substantial margin.

North Carolina State's performance on court was notable for several reasons. Their shooting from within the paint contributed a hefty 32 points to their total score. Additionally, they capitalized on turnovers effectively, adding another 10 points off them. Their fast break efforts were also fruitful as they racked up 15 fast break points.

Defensively speaking, North Carolina State made sure their presence was felt with six steals and four blocks during playtime. They were also relentless on both ends of the court when it came to rebounds; pulling down an impressive total of 56 rebounds - with a significant contribution coming from defensive efforts accounting for 41 of those rebounds.

On offense, while their field goal percentage stood at just 36 percent overall and three-point attempts only converting at a rate of about one-fourth (26 percent), they excelled at free throws making an exceptional 90 percent from the line which certainly helped cement their lead.

Virginia Cavaliers put up a strong resistance despite falling short on this occasion. They managed eight blocks and five steals defensively but struggled offensively with lower shooting percentages across two-point (26 percent), three-point (30 percent), and free throw attempts (63 percent). Their rebounding effort saw them collect a total of 44 rebounds but fell short compared to NCST's numbers.

Looking forward for NCST fans: The next challenge for North Carolina State Wolfpack will be against Florida State Seminoles at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh. This home game is scheduled for January 4th at 7:00 PM Eastern Time and can be watched live on ACC Network Extra via internet broadcast networks.
