The game was marked by intense competition as evidenced by six ties and eleven lead changes. Despite a strong start, the North Carolina State Wolfpack could not maintain their momentum into the later quarters. They opened with nine points in the first quarter and followed up with ten in the second, thirteen in the third, and fifteen in their final push during the fourth quarter.

The Wolfpack's defense managed to block one shot and steal possession six times throughout the match. On offense, they were able to assist on eleven scoring plays but struggled from beyond the arc with only five three-pointers made from twenty-three attempts—a mere twenty-two percent success rate. Their field goal percentage stood at twenty-nine percent after making eighteen out of sixty-two attempts.

Rebounding was a strong suit for North Carolina State as they collected forty-three rebounds—twenty-eight defensive and fifteen offensive—demonstrating their ability to control both ends of the court. However, turnovers were an issue for them as they gave up possession fourteen times which translated into seven points for their opponents.

On offense inside paint was productive for them; they scored eighteen points but were less effective from two-point range where they converted only thirty-three percent of their thirty-nine attempts. Conversely, despite winning by nine points overall, The Tar Heels had similar shooting struggles; converting just under thirty percent from field goals and around thirty-two percent from three-point land. They did manage to block four shots while stealing five times from NCST players.
