North Carolina Tar Heels Face Kansas State Wildcats at Hertz Arena in Semifinals Game 1

In a competitive matchup at Hertz Arena, the North Carolina Tar Heels faced off against the Kansas State Wildcats. The game ended with a score of 63-56 in favor of the Wildcats. The North Carolina Tar Heels' season record now stands at 18-1, while the Kansas State Wildcats improved to 16-3.

The North Carolina Tar Heels started slowly, trailing with only eight points to the Wildcats' sixteen by the end of the first quarter. Despite their efforts to close the gap, they finished the half still behind, scoring fourteen points to another sixteen from their opponents in the second quarter. The third quarter saw an improved performance from UNC with eighteen points but was matched by thirteen from KSU. In a final push during the fourth quarter, UNC scored sixteen points; however, it wasn't enough to overcome KSU's eighteen.


UNC's defense managed thirteen steals over KSU's two and blocked one shot compared to four by their opponents. Offensively, UNC made twenty-three field goals out of sixty-two attempts resulting in a thirty-seven percent success rate and were successful on two out of twenty three-point attempts for a ten percent completion rate. They also made eight free throws from thirteen attempts which gave them a sixty-two percent success rate from the line.


The team demonstrated aggressive play which resulted in twenty-two personal fouls and one player fouling out. They secured thirty total rebounds (seventeen defensive and four offensive) alongside nine fast break points and fifteen points off turnovers.


On offense for KSU, they made twenty field goals out of forty-six attempts for forty-four percent shooting accuracy including five three-pointers on seventeen attempts giving them a twenty-nine percent completion rate from beyond arc. At free throw line they were more effective than UNC making eighteen out of twenty-four shots translating into seventy-five percent accuracy.
