Will the North Texas Mean Green Outmaneuver the SMU Mustangs at UNT Coliseum?

As the North Texas Mean Green prepare to host their rivals, the SMU Mustangs, at UNT Coliseum on February 10th, fans are buzzing with anticipation. The Mean Green's recent performances have been a mixed bag of triumphs and setbacks, but there's reason to believe that they could dominate this upcoming clash.

North Texas Mean Green VS SMU Mustangs

Looking back at their December 9th game against Alcorn State Lady Braves, UNT showcased an offensive masterclass with an impressive 84 points game. Their field goal percentage stood strong at 52 percent and they were particularly lethal from beyond the arc, hitting a scorching 53 percent of their three-point attempts. This kind of shooting efficiency can be a game-changer against SMU.

However, it wasn't just their shooting that caught attention; UNT also demonstrated tenacity on defense with steals and blocks that led to fast break opportunities. They capitalized on turnovers by scoring 23 points off them – a testament to their aggressive defensive play.

But it hasn't all been smooth sailing for UNT. In their December 22nd encounter with Montana State Bobcats, they fell short despite putting up a valiant fight. Scoring consistency was an issue as they only managed to convert 40 percent from the field and struggled from the free-throw line with just 59 percent accuracy. Against SMU Mustangs' robust defense, such lapses could prove costly.

UNT's ability to control rebounds will be crucial in maintaining possession and creating second-chance points – something they excelled in during their victory over Alcorn State by securing a total of 44 rebounds.

The Mustangs should not be underestimated though; any lapse in concentration could give them enough room to take control of the game. The Mean Green must maintain pressure throughout all four quarters if they wish to emerge victorious.

Fans are eager for another exhilarating performance akin to what was witnessed on December 9th when UNT dominated both ends of the court. With home-court advantage this time around and lessons learned from past games, there is every reason for optimism among supporters.

The stage is set for February 10th at UNT Coliseum in Denton where fans can catch all the action live starting at 8:00 PM local time (Central Time). Will North Texas rise up once again or will SMU gallop away with victory? Only time will tell as we await tip-off in what promises to be an enthralling encounter between these two formidable teams.
