North Texas Mean Green to Battle Rice Owls in a Showdown at Tudor

As the North Texas Mean Green prepare to face off against the Rice Owls at Tudor Fieldhouse, fans are looking forward to what promises to be an electrifying encounter. The UNT women's team is coming off a mixed bag of performances, but there's reason for optimism as they head into this crucial game.

North Texas Mean Green VS Rice Owls

In their last outing on February 18th against the UTSA Roadrunners, UNT fell just short, scoring 63 points to UTSA's 66. Despite the loss, there were positive takeaways; notably their defensive rebounds where they outmatched UTSA with 25 compared to 19 and total rebounds with a significant margin of 44 over UTSA’s 35. However, turnovers were a thorn in their side with a total of 18 which slightly eclipsed their opponent’s count.

A few days earlier on February 15th against Florida Atlantic Owls (FAU), UNT turned things around with an impressive win scoring 67 points over FAU’s lesser tally of 57. Their aggressive play was evident as they dominated in points off turnovers (32) and second-chance points (18). This level of play needs to be replicated if UNT wants to secure another victory.

The most notable performance came before that on February 10th when UNT hosted SMU Mustangs and emerged victorious with a commanding scoreline of 78-65. The Mean Green showcased their offensive prowess by shooting an impressive field goal percentage at approximately half success rate and converting fast break opportunities into a whopping total of fast break points at nearly triple SMU’s count.

Looking ahead, it's clear that if North Texas can maintain its rebounding strength and capitalize on turnover opportunities while tightening up its own ball security, they stand a good chance against Rice. The key will be consistency – something that has eluded them in recent games.

UNT fans should expect their team to come out strong defensively while also looking for those critical offensive breaks that have served them well in past victories. With players undoubtedly eager to bounce back from any setbacks and continue building upon wins like the one against SMU Mustangs, anticipation is high for what could unfold on March second.

The upcoming game is scheduled for March second at two o'clock PM Central Time at Tudor Fieldhouse in Houston, TX. Fans unable or unwilling to make the trip can catch all the action from home as it unfolds live – ensuring no one misses out on what could be another defining moment for North Texas Mean Green women's basketball this season.
