Notre Dame Fighting Irish Dominate Western Michigan Broncos at Purcell Pavilion in Women's Basketball Showdown

In a commanding display of basketball, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish secured a resounding victory over the Western Michigan Broncos with a final score of 84-47. The Fighting Irish now stand with an impressive record of 14-0, while the Broncos fall to 0-1.

The game, held at Purcell Pavilion in South Bend, saw the home team take control from the outset. The Fighting Irish opened up with a strong first quarter, outscoring their opponents by 24-13 and continued to build on their lead throughout the match. By halftime, they had established a significant advantage and did not relent in their pursuit of victory.


The Notre Dame team showcased superior shooting accuracy with an overall field goal percentage of 45 percent compared to Western Michigan's 33 percent. Their prowess was also evident from beyond the arc where they shot at an impressive rate of 38 percent against their opponent's lower rate of 21 percent.


Defensively, Notre Dame was just as dominant. They out-rebounded Western Michigan by a substantial margin with total rebounds tallying up to 55 against only 28 for the Broncos. This included an overwhelming number of offensive rebounds (22) which led to second-chance points that kept increasing Notre Dame's lead.


The home team also excelled in ball movement and defense; recording more assists (21) and steals (11), which contributed significantly to their fast break points totaling up to 19. Moreover, they capitalized on turnovers by scoring an outstanding number of points off turnovers (25).


Western Michigan struggled throughout but showed resilience despite facing such stiff competition. They managed six steals and four blocks but were hindered by committing more personal fouls (17) than Notre Dame who committed only ten.
