Notre Dame Fighting Irish Narrowly Edged Out by Duke Blue Devils at Purcell Pavilion in Women's Basketball Showdown

In a closely contested battle at Purcell Pavilion, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish fell to the Duke Blue Devils with a final score of 52-57. The Fighting Irish now hold a record of 9-1, while the Blue Devils improved to 16-3.

The game was marked by intense competition and frequent lead changes, totaling ten throughout the contest. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish started strong, outscoring the Blue Devils 16-12 in the first quarter. However, momentum shifted as both teams fought for dominance on court. Notre Dame's performance was notable for their defensive plays which resulted in seven steals and two blocks. Offensively they made three three-pointers from eleven attempts giving them a three-point percentage of twenty-seven percent. They also managed eighteen two-pointers from forty-one attempts resulting in an approximate forty-four percent success rate from within the arc.


On rebounding efforts, Notre Dame secured thirty-three rebounds but were slightly outdone by Duke who collected thirty-seven rebounds throughout the game. The home team also committed sixteen personal fouls and turned over possession fourteen times which matched that of their opponents.

The Duke Blue Devils showcased resilience especially during critical moments late in the game. Their field goal percentage stood at forty percent with twenty-two successful shots out of fifty-five attempts and they converted seventy-five percent of free throws making nine out of twelve attempts.
