The game at Purcell Pavilion was attended by 7,134 fans who witnessed the Wolfpack establish dominance early on. The away team opened with a strong first quarter, outscoring the home team by twelve points. Despite efforts to close the gap, Notre Dame struggled to find their rhythm throughout the match.

Notre Dame's performance was hindered by their shooting accuracy; they achieved only a 27 percent field goal rate and were particularly challenged beyond the arc where they made just three out of eighteen attempts for a meager seventeen percent success rate. Inside paint, they managed twenty points but were overshadowed by North Carolina State's twenty-four.

On defense, Notre Dame amassed forty-seven rebounds compared to North Carolina State's forty but fell short in other areas such as steals and blocks where they recorded six and three respectively. In contrast, North Carolina State showcased their defensive capabilities with six blocks and four steals.

Turnovers proved costly for Notre Dame as well; fifteen turnovers led to sixteen points for North Carolina State. Additionally, one player from Notre Dame fouled out which may have disrupted their on-court chemistry.

Despite these challenges, there were some positive notes for Notre Dame fans. The team showed tenacity on offensive rebounds grabbing twelve against North Carolina State's six which contributed to thirteen second-chance points.
