From the opening whistle at Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio State set the tone for what would become a one-sided affair. The home team's offensive firepower was on full display as they outscored their opponents in every quarter, starting with an assertive 27-13 lead in the first and closing out with a solid 16-point effort in the fourth. The Buckeyes' shooting accuracy was notable as they hit 44 percent from both field goal and two-point ranges while sinking an impressive eleven three-pointers at a rate of forty-two percent.

Ohio State's defense was equally formidable, racking up thirteen steals and limiting Rutgers to just thirty-seven percent shooting from the field. Despite each team pulling down thirty-five rebounds apiece, it was Ohio State's ability to convert turnovers into points that made all the difference; they scored an overwhelming thirty-six points off turnovers compared to Rutgers' seven.

The Buckeyes also demonstrated superior ball movement and teamwork with twenty assists leading to scores across their roster. This contrasted sharply with Rutgers' five assists throughout the game. Additionally, Ohio State capitalized on fast-break opportunities by adding fifteen fast break points to their tally.

Rutgers did show resilience under pressure by making nineteen free throws at eighty-three percent efficiency but struggled from beyond the arc with only two three-pointers made out of eight attempts—a mere twenty-five percent success rate. Their efforts inside were more fruitful as they scored twenty-six points in paint but could not match Ohio State's thirty-four.

The visiting team fought hard despite being overpowered; they managed seventeen second-chance points thanks largely to their offensive rebounding which saw them grab eleven boards on that end of the court. However, personal fouls proved costly for Rutgers as they committed twenty-three throughout play without any player being fouled out or ejected.

Looking ahead after this emphatic win for Ohio State Buckeyes fans can mark their calendars for January 14th when their team will face off against Michigan State Spartans at Value City Arena once again. Scheduled for a tip-off time of 4:00 PM EST fans can catch all action live nationally on BTN network channel six hundred ten ensuring not a moment is missed from what promises another exciting college basketball matchup.
