The game at the State Farm Center was a testament to Ohio State's resilience and tactical execution. After trailing with just 18 points in the first quarter and a mere 4 points in the second, they turned things around spectacularly by adding 20 points in the third quarter and sealing their dominance with a strong finish of 25 points in the final quarter. The Buckeyes' offense was particularly effective inside, racking up an impressive total of 30 points in the paint.

Defensively, Ohio State showcased their prowess by accumulating six blocks and ten steals throughout the game. Their defensive efforts were complemented by an aggressive rebounding strategy that saw them pull down a total of 34 rebounds—22 defensively and another dozen on offense. This effort on both ends of the court played a crucial role in maintaining their lead.

On an individual level, Ohio State players demonstrated remarkable efficiency from two-point range, shooting at a solid rate of fifty percent. From beyond the arc, they managed to sink six out of twenty-three attempts which translated into twenty-six percent accuracy—a figure that though not exceptional proved sufficient given their overall performance.

The free throw line also witnessed competent execution from Ohio State as they made thirteen out of eighteen attempts for seventy-two percent success rate. In terms of ball handling, despite committing fifteen turnovers during playtime, they managed to maintain an assists-turnover ratio slightly above zero point eight-six which reflects their ability to create scoring opportunities even under pressure.

Conversely, Illinois had its moments but ultimately fell short against Ohio State's robust gameplay. They fought valiantly putting up fifty-nine points including twenty-six from inside paint but struggled with turnovers giving away possession twenty-one times which significantly hampered their rhythm.

Their shooting percentages were lower across all categories compared to those posted by OSU: forty-three percent for two-pointers thirty-nine percent overall field goal percentage and just under sixty percent for free throws made them vulnerable against such formidable opposition as displayed by OSU on this occasion.

As fans look ahead after this intense matchup it is clear that next challenge awaits when Ohio State Buckeyes travel to face Purdue Boilermakers at Mackey Arena located West Lafayette Indiana scheduled for January 28th at 2:00 PM Eastern Time zone broadcasted via B1G+ network online platform where supporters can tune into witness another exciting chapter unfold within conference play calendar season cycle.
