The game started off competitively with both teams tied at twenty points in the first quarter. However, as play progressed, it became evident that the Longhorns had taken control of the court. Despite this setback, there were notable performances from Oklahoma players who fought valiantly throughout. The team's effort was reflected in their total rebound count of forty-one and their ability to score ten points off turnovers.

The Oklahoma defense managed three blocks and eight steals over four quarters but struggled to contain Texas' offensive plays which led to thirty-six points in paint for the home team. On offense, Oklahoma made sixteen two-point shots out of forty-two attempts resulting in a thirty-eight percent success rate from close range while also adding five three-point shots.
