Can Oklahoma State Cowgirls Rebound After Falling to Iowa State Cyclones?

Iowa State Cyclones VS Oklahoma State Cowgirls

The Cowgirls started the game on an even keel, trailing by just five points at the end of the first quarter. However, as play progressed, they found themselves struggling to keep up with the home team's pace. Despite their efforts, including scoring 20 points in the final quarter—their highest in any quarter during this match—the Cowgirls could not close down the gap created by the Cyclones' consistent performance throughout all four quarters.

Oklahoma State's shooting accuracy was modest; they made 37 percent of their field goals and were more successful from beyond the arc where they hit 36 percent of their attempts. Their free throw accuracy was impressive at 92 percent but it wasn't enough to turn tides in their favor. The team also managed to secure a total of 33 rebounds and contributed 13 assists over the course of play.

Defensively, Oklahoma State showed resilience with six steals and three blocks but it wasn't sufficient against an aggressive Iowa State offense that put up an imposing number inside: scoring a dominant 42 points in paint compared to Oklahoma State's more modest contribution of just half that amount.

A key aspect for Oklahoma State was maintaining possession; however, they turned over possession ten times which translated into eleven points for Iowa State off turnovers. Additionally, while both teams committed twelve personal fouls each during gameplay, it was clear that Iowa State capitalized better on these opportunities.

The Cyclones demonstrated superior teamwork with twenty-seven assists leading to many high-percentage shots which resulted in them making sixty percent from two-point range and forty-six percent overall from field goal range—a stark contrast to Oklahoma States' thirty-eight percent success rate for two-pointers.
