Ole Miss Rebels Host Mississippi Valley State Devilettes at The Pavilion in Women's Basketball Showdown

As the Ole Miss Rebels prepare to face off against the Mississippi Valley State Devilettes at The Pavilion at Ole Miss, fans are buzzing with anticipation. The upcoming women's basketball game is set to be a pivotal moment for the Rebels, who have shown both resilience and areas for improvement in their recent outings.

Southern Miss Golden Eagles VS Ole Miss Rebels

The Rebels' performance has been a rollercoaster of highs and lows. In their last game on December 2 against Southern Miss Lady Eagles, they narrowly missed victory with a score of 59-61. Despite leading in steals (8) and blocks (4), their field goal percentage was just 36 percent, which ultimately cost them the win. However, they did manage to secure an impressive 31 rebounds and capitalized on turnovers by scoring 19 points.

Earlier games tell a similar story of near triumphs overshadowed by small yet significant shortcomings. On November 30, facing the Louisville Cardinals – ranked 22nd – the Rebels lost by a slim margin again with a final score of 58-64. Their two-point shooting was strong at over half made (52 percent), but free throws were their Achilles heel as they only made less than half (46 percent). Turnovers were also an issue; despite having one less than Louisville's total turnovers (21 vs. Louisville’s 18), it wasn't enough to clinch victory.

However, there is reason for optimism when looking back at November 25 against Little Rock Trojans where Ole Miss emerged victorious with a scoreline of 58-45. Their defense was stout with four blocks and holding Little Rock to just under 36 percent shooting from the field.

The Devilettes come into this matchup as underdogs but cannot be underestimated. They will look to exploit any lapses in concentration from MISS and could potentially cause an upset if taken lightly.

For MISS fans, it's clear that consistency is key – maintaining defensive pressure while improving shot selection will be crucial strategies going forward. With home-court advantage and lessons learned from past performances, there is every chance that this game could mark a turning point for MISS before heading into more challenging conference play.

The stage is set for what promises to be an exciting encounter between these two teams on December 13th at The Pavilion at Ole Miss in Oxford, MS starting at 6:30 PM local time (CT). Fans unable to attend can still catch all the action live as it unfolds directly from Oxford without any broadcast networks coverage announced yet.
