Oregon State Beavers Fall to Iowa Hawkeyes at Chiles Center in Women's Basketball Showdown

In a competitive matchup at the Chiles Center, the Oregon State Beavers faced off against the Iowa Hawkeyes in women's basketball. The game concluded with the Hawkeyes securing a victory with a score of 73-59. The Beavers' season record now stands at 0-2, while the Hawkeyes improved to 2-0.

The home team, Oregon State Beavers, started strong with 16 points in the first quarter but couldn't maintain their momentum against the ninth-ranked Hawkeyes who put up 19 points. By halftime, despite an impressive second-quarter effort by the Beavers scoring 21 points, they trailed as Iowa managed to add another 25 points to their tally. The third quarter saw a dip in performance from both teams; however, it was more pronounced for Oregon State as they only scored nine points compared to Iowa's ten. In the final quarter of play, both teams rallied and scored over ten points each but ultimately it was not enough for Oregon State who could only muster up another 13 points against Iowa’s consistent offense which added another 19.


The Beavers showcased resilience on defense with four blocks and five steals but were outdone by Iowa’s five blocks and six steals. Offensively, Oregon State struggled from two-point range making just sixteen out of forty-five attempts resulting in a thirty-six percent success rate whereas their opponents capitalized on such opportunities shooting fifty-six percent from two-point range.


Despite being outperformed overall, there were some positive takeaways for Oregon State fans; notably their free throw accuracy stood at an impressive ninety percent as they made nine out of ten attempts from the line. Additionally, they edged out Iowa in total rebounds grabbing thirty-seven compared to thirty-five by their opponents.


Looking ahead after this tough loss at home, fans can anticipate seeing how Oregon State will regroup when they host Duke Blue Devils next week. This upcoming game is scheduled for November 28th at Veterans Memorial Coliseum located in Portland where supporters can catch all live action as it unfolds without any broadcast networks covering this event.
