Rice Owls Set to Soar Against SMU Mustangs in Dallas Duel

As the Rice Owls prepare to face off against the SMU Mustangs at Moody Coliseum, fans are buzzing with anticipation for what promises to be a thrilling encounter. The Owls have been on an impressive run, and their recent performances suggest they are ready to take on the challenge that awaits them in Dallas.

Rice Owls VS SMU Mustangs

In their last game on January 4th against Wichita State's Shockers, the Owls showcased their offensive prowess by putting up 76 points. Their ability to maintain a high scoring rate was complemented by a solid defense that racked up 16 steals and limited turnovers to just one team turnover. This combination of high-scoring offense and aggressive defense is what sets RICE apart as they head into this upcoming game.

The statistics from previous games paint an optimistic picture for RICE fans. With a field goal percentage of 42 percent and free throw accuracy standing at 70 percent against Wichita State, it's clear that the team has been working hard on their shooting efficiency. Additionally, their three-point shooting may need some work at only 25 percent but considering they managed to secure victory despite this shows resilience and adaptability.

On December 20th, during an overtime thriller against Houston's Cougars, although RICE fell short with a final score of 63-71, there were positive takeaways from that performance as well. They demonstrated exceptional free throw accuracy at an impressive 87 percent which could prove crucial in close encounters like the one anticipated against SMU.

Moreover, when facing Prairie View A&M Panthers on December 16th where they emerged victorious with a scoreline of 85-59, RICE showed they could dominate both ends of the court. Notably efficient was their three-point shooting which stood at an outstanding rate of 43 percent combined with strong rebounding numbers indicating good control over both defensive and offensive boards.

The upcoming match-up will require RICE to leverage these strengths while also being mindful of SMU's home advantage. The Mustangs will not make it easy for them; however, based on recent form and statistics from past games – particularly those played at Tudor Fieldhouse – there is every reason for optimism among Owl supporters.

Looking ahead towards January 7th when these two teams clash at Moody Coliseum in Dallas at precisely 2:00 PM local time; fans can expect Rice University’s team to bring intensity and skill onto the court as they aim for another win in this season’s campaign. For those unable to attend in person, tuning into live coverage will ensure you don't miss any action from what promises to be another exciting chapter in college basketball.
