Cardinal Soars High Over Lady Bears in a Dominant Display at Maples Pavilion

9-0 Stanford Cardinal eclipsed the unranked Morgan State Lady Bears with a commanding 98-38 victory. The home team's dominance was reflected in their superior scoring across all four quarters, starting strong with 29 points and never looking back. The Lady Bears, on the other hand, struggled to keep pace after an initial 15-point quarter, trailing significantly throughout the contest.

The Cardinal showcased an impressive offensive performance at Maples Pavilion. They shot an outstanding 57 percent from the field compared to the Lady Bears' modest 26 percent. Stanford's precision was particularly notable from inside the arc where they converted 65 percent of their two-point attempts. Beyond the arc, they also outperformed Morgan State by hitting nine three-pointers at a rate of 41 percent.


Defensively, Stanford was just as formidable. They amassed seven blocks and eleven steals over four quarters of play, stifling many of Morgan State's attempts to generate offense. The Cardinal capitalized on turnovers as well, scoring a remarkable 33 points off Morgan State's mistakes.


Rebounding was another area where Stanford excelled; they pulled down a total of 49 rebounds—31 defensive and ten offensive—while limiting Morgan State to just seven team rebounds and a total rebound count of 31.


Stanford’s players also demonstrated excellent teamwork with twenty-five assists leading to scores compared to only seven by their opponents. This facilitated ball movement contributed greatly to their high shooting percentage and allowed them for fast break opportunities which resulted in twenty-six fast break points.


The Lady Bears did manage some resistance despite being overwhelmed overall; they scored twenty-two points in the paint and secured eleven second-chance points but were unable to convert any free throw as none were attempted during the game.
