Orange Outlast Fighting Irish in Fierce Showdown at Purcell Pavilion

22-15 Syracuse Orange emerged victorious over the 15th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish with a final score of 79-65. The Orange's performance was marked by a strong fourth quarter, where they scored 28 points, sealing their win. The Fighting Irish, despite their efforts and leading in fast break points with 16, could not keep up with the pace set by the visitors.


Syracuse Orange VS Notre Dame Fighting Irish

The Syracuse Orange demonstrated a balanced offensive and defensive game at Purcell Pavilion. They managed to block eight shots and steal the ball seven times from their opponents. Their defensive prowess was further highlighted by securing 50 rebounds throughout the game – an impressive feat that included both offensive (18) and defensive (27) boards.


On offense, Syracuse showed efficiency from both inside and beyond the arc. They shot at a solid 44 percent from two-point range making 23 out of 52 attempts and maintained accuracy from three-point territory with a commendable rate of 43 percent. Free throws were also crucial for Syracuse as they capitalized on these opportunities, shooting at an impressive rate of 75 percent.


The team's ability to capitalize on turnovers was evident as they scored 14 points off turnovers made by Notre Dame. Moreover, second-chance points were pivotal for Syracuse as they amassed an outstanding total of 23 compared to just four by Notre Dame.


Notre Dame Fighting Irish fought hard but struggled in shooting efficiency across all fronts with only a third of their field goals finding the net including two-pointers where only sixteen out of forty-eight attempts were successful despite having more steals than Syracuse with ten in total.
