Can Syracuse Orange Maintain Momentum After Dominant Fourth Quarter at Conte Forum?

The Syracuse Orange, ranked 21st, emerged victorious over the Boston College Eagles with a final score of 75-63. The Orange now hold a record of 1-0, while the Eagles stand at 0-1. The game unfolded at Silvio O. Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, where the Orange showcased their resilience and skill.

The match was marked by several lead changes and ties, indicating a closely contested battle between the two teams. However, it was in the fourth quarter that Syracuse truly took control of the game by scoring an impressive 26 points compared to Boston College's 14 in that period alone.

Syracuse's performance was highlighted by their exceptional accuracy from the free-throw line; they made an astounding 96 percent of their free throws. This precision contributed significantly to their overall score as they secured 22 points from free throws alone. Moreover, despite being outrebounded by Boston College with a total rebound count of 34 to BC's 36, Syracuse managed to make critical plays when it mattered most.

Defensively, Syracuse demonstrated tenacity with eight steals and two blocks throughout the game which helped them maintain pressure on BC. Their defensive efforts were complemented by converting turnovers into points; they scored an impressive total of 17 points off turnovers.

Offensively speaking, while both teams had similar field goal percentages around the low forties—41 percent for Syracuse and slightly higher for BC—the three-point shooting told another story. The Orange made seven out of eighteen attempts from beyond the arc resulting in a three-point percentage of nearly double that of BC’s meager seventeen percent.

A standout statistic for Syracuse was their second-chance points tallying up to twelve which indicates effective offensive rebounding leading to additional scoring opportunities. These crucial second efforts often determine close games and this time it worked in favor of The Orange who only allowed five second-chance points against them.

Looking ahead after this solid performance on foreign grounds against conference rivals Boston College Eagles, fans can anticipate seeing how well this momentum carries into future contests for The Orange.

The next challenge awaiting The Syracuse Orange will be on home turf as they face off against Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at JMA Wireless Dome located in Syracuse NY on February eighth at seven PM Eastern Time Fans eager to support can tune into ACC Network Extra via internet broadcast networks for live coverage.
