First Quarter

The opening quarter saw the Hokies take an early lead, scoring 22 points compared to the Orange's 15. Despite strong defensive efforts from Uche Izoje, who recorded multiple blocks throughout the game, Syracuse struggled to contain Virginia Tech's offensive plays.

Second Quarter

In the second quarter, both teams tightened their defenses. However, it was Virginia Tech that managed to maintain control by adding another 13 points while limiting Syracuse to just 8. Journey Thompson contributed significantly for the Orange with her perfect field goal percentage but couldn't turn the tide alone.

Third Quarter

Virginia Tech extended their lead further in the third quarter by scoring an impressive 27 points. The Orange responded with an improved performance of their own, putting up 18 points thanks in part to Laila Phelia’s consistent shooting and Keira Scott’s defensive rebounds.

Fourth Quarter

Entering into the final quarter, Syracuse attempted a comeback but was unable to close down on Virginia Tech’s advantage. The Hokies added another 15 points while holding Syracuse to just one less point than they scored themselves in this period.

Despite Angelica Velez’s efforts on both ends of court and Sophie Burrows’ contributions from beyond arc during fast breaks, it wasn’t enough for them as they fell short against well-coordinated opponents like those found within ranks such as these ones here today: namely those belonging specifically towards aforementioned rival team known collectively under moniker "Hokie Nation."
