Horned Frogs Dominate the Court with Commanding Victory Over Cougars

The TCU Horned Frogs, ranked 23rd, showcased their dominance on the basketball court with a resounding 81-67 victory over the BYU Cougars. The Horned Frogs improved their record to an impressive 23-5, while the Cougars fell to a 5-23 standing.

The home team's offensive execution was particularly noteworthy as they shot an exceptional 51 percent from both field goals and two-point range on their home turf at Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth. Their sharpshooting extended beyond the arc as well, nailing half of their three-point attempts.


TCU's defense was equally formidable; they amassed four blocks and three steals during playtime. This defensive pressure contributed to twelve points off turnovers for TCU compared to only five for BYU. Furthermore, TCU outrebounded BYU by securing a total of 37 rebounds – six offensive and twenty-nine defensive – which played a crucial role in maintaining possession and controlling the game flow.


The Horned Frogs also displayed superior teamwork with twenty assists leading to scores, reflecting effective ball movement against BYU's nineteen assists. Additionally, TCU capitalized on second-chance opportunities by scoring ten second-chance points.


On offense for BYU, despite shooting at lower percentages across all categories compared to TCU – including field goals at thirty-nine percent and two-points at forty percent – they managed to convert nine out of twenty-four three-point shots taken which is thirty-eight percent from downtown.


BYU fought valiantly in the final quarter putting up twenty-four points but it wasn't enough to close down TCU’s lead which had been built through consistent performance across all quarters including eighteen points scored by them in that last period.
