Horned Frogs Stumble Against Ranked Longhorns in Conference Showdown

The TCU Horned Frogs faced a challenging contest against the Texas Longhorns, ending with a score of 65-43. The Horned Frogs' season record now stands at 0-1, while the Longhorns improved to 1-0. Despite a spirited effort, the home team could not overcome the offensive pressure from their ranked opponents.


TCU Horned Frogs VS Texas Longhorns

The game at Schollmaier Arena saw the Horned Frogs struggle to find their rhythm early on, scoring just six points in the opening quarter compared to eleven by the Longhorns. The second quarter showed some improvement for TCU with fourteen points scored; however, they were still outpaced by Texas who added twelve more to their tally. After halftime, both teams returned to the court with renewed energy but it was Texas who dominated again scoring twenty-six points in third and sixteen in fourth quarters while TCU managed twelve and eleven respectively.


Statistically speaking, TCU's performance was hindered by a low field goal percentage of twenty-nine percent from forty-eight attempts and an even lower two-point shot success rate of thirty-two percent from nineteen attempts. They did fare slightly better from beyond the arc hitting eight out of twenty-nine three-point shots giving them a three-point shooting percentage of twenty-eight percent and were successful on seven out of eleven free throws translating into sixty-four percent accuracy.


On defense, TCU recorded only one block compared to five by Texas and managed six steals during the game. The team also accumulated fifteen personal fouls which included one foul-out situation. Rebounding was another area where they fell short with thirty-one total rebounds (nineteen defensive and nine offensive) against Texas' thirty-six.


Texas showcased strong teamwork with twenty assists leading to many scoring opportunities which resulted in them shooting forty-seven percent overall including fifty-two percent for two-pointers and twenty-nine percent for three-pointers. Their free throw performance was less impressive though as they made just fifty-four percent of their thirteen attempts.


The next game for TCU Horned Frogs is set against West Virginia Mountaineers at Schollmaier Arena on February 13th at 6:30 PM local time (Central Time). Fans can catch this match-up live on ESPN+ via internet broadcast networks as both teams look forward to competing once again on court.
