Can Temple Owls Maintain Momentum After Outscoring Rice at Tudor Fieldhouse?

The Temple Owls emerged victorious with a 75-66 scoreline over the Rice Owls in a recent face-off. The Temple team's season record now stands at an impressive 17-5, while the home team, Rice, holds at 12-10.

The game held at Tudor Fieldhouse saw the visiting Temple Owls set an aggressive pace from the start. They opened with a strong first quarter, putting up 26 points against Rice's 16. Although their scoring slowed down in the second quarter to just 15 points, they managed to maintain their lead throughout the game.


Temple's offense was on full display with a field goal percentage of 42 and an exceptional three-point shooting performance of 59 percent accuracy. Their tenacity on defense was evident as well; they racked up five steals and three blocks over the course of play. The team also showed dominance under both baskets by securing a total of 46 rebounds – twelve being offensive rebounds which contributed to their second-chance points tallying up to thirteen.


A key player for Temple was undoubtedly instrumental in this win, contributing significantly across various aspects of the game including scoring and assists. This player’s efforts were complemented by teammates who collectively achieved an assist-to-turnover ratio slightly above one.


On the other side of the court, despite being outplayed overall, Rice displayed resilience particularly through their free throw accuracy which stood at seventy-seven percent compared to Temple's sixty-four percent. They also managed nine steals and four blocks but fell short on rebounding with thirty-nine total rebounds.


Rice did have moments where they capitalized on turnovers by converting them into fifteen points but it wasn't enough to overcome Temple’s consistent performance across all four quarters.


As fans look ahead after this victory for The Temple Owls, attention turns towards their next challenge which will be hosted at Liacouras Center against Tulsa Golden Hurricane.
