Tennessee Lady Volunteers Secure Victory Over Wright State Raiders at Thompson-Boling Arena in Women's Basketball

The Tennessee Lady Volunteers showcased a commanding performance against the Wright State Raiders, ending the game with a decisive 96-57 victory. The home team's record now stands at an impressive 1-0, while the Raiders fell to 0-1.

Tennessee Volunteers VS Norfolk State Spartans

From the opening tip-off at Knoxville's Thompson-Boling Arena, the Tennessee Lady Volunteers set a relentless pace. They outscored Wright State in every quarter, beginning with a solid 20-point effort in the first and ramping up to an explosive 27 points in the third. The home team's scoring consistency was evident as they posted over 20 points in each quarter.

The Raiders were not without their moments, starting strong with 17 points in the first quarter but struggled to keep up as the game progressed. Their highest-scoring player managed only nine field goals out of twenty attempts and hit one three-pointer from five tries. Free throws were also a challenge for Wright State; they made just six out of eleven attempts.

On defense, Tennessee was formidable, forcing turnovers and limiting Wright State’s shooting accuracy to just forty-one percent from field goals and twenty-five percent from beyond the arc. The Lady Volunteers capitalized on these opportunities by converting turnovers into points and maintaining high shooting accuracy themselves – fifty-four percent for field goals and forty-three percent for three-pointers.

One standout player for Tennessee was particularly effective on offense; she made an impressive twelve shots out of sixteen attempted from inside the arc but missed both her three-point attempts. At free throws, she excelled by sinking all four shots taken.

Looking ahead, fans of The Tennessee Lady Volunteers can mark their calendars for December 14th when they face off against UCF Knights at Thompson-Boling Arena once again. This upcoming match is scheduled for a tip-off at 6:30 PM Eastern Time. While no broadcast networks have been announced yet for this game, dedicated fans will surely find ways to follow their team live as they continue their season campaign on home turf.
