Tennessee Volunteers VS Norfolk State Spartans

The game at Thompson-Boling Arena saw the home team, Tennessee Lady Volunteers, start strong and maintain their momentum throughout. Both teams ended the first quarter tied at 21 points each. However, by halftime, the Lady Volunteers had established a lead with an additional 25 points to their score compared to just nine from the Trojans.

The third quarter was particularly notable for the Tennessee team as they racked up an impressive 31 points. Their offensive efforts were matched by solid defense, limiting Troy to only 22 points in that period. The final quarter saw continued dominance from Tennessee with another 23 points added to their tally.

Statistically speaking, Tennessee's shooting was superior; they achieved a field goal percentage of around 46 percent against Troy's approximate rate of just under 33 percent. From beyond the arc, Tennessee hit an efficient rate of about 40 percent on three-point attempts while Troy managed close to only around 30 percent.

The Lady Volunteers also excelled in rebounding with a total of around sixty-three rebounds - nearly double that of Troy’s thirty-five - which included nineteen offensive boards contributing significantly to second-chance opportunities and resulting in thirty second-chance points for Tennessee.

Assists were another area where Tennessee shone brightly; they distributed eighteen assists over four quarters demonstrating effective ball movement against fifteen from Troy. Despite committing sixteen turnovers themselves – slightly more than twice as many as Troy – it did not significantly impact their overall performance or scoring efficiency.
