Texas Tech Lady Raiders Face Setback at Moody Center Against Ranked Texas Longhorns

In a highly contested conference game at the Moody Center, the Texas Tech Lady Raiders fell to the Texas Longhorns with a final score of 71-80. The Lady Raiders now stand with an overall record of 0-1, while the Longhorns improved to 1-0.

The game saw both teams exhibit strong offensive efforts. The Texas Tech Lady Raiders showcased their shooting skills by making nine three-pointers on a 45 percent shooting rate from beyond the arc and achieving an overall field goal percentage of nearly 47 percent. Despite their efforts, they were outscored in each quarter, managing only eight points in the first and twelve in the third. However, they rallied in the fourth quarter with an impressive 32 points but it wasn't enough to secure victory.


The team's performance was marked by aggressive play which led to twenty-five personal fouls and two players fouling out. On defense, they managed three blocks and nine steals throughout the game. Offensively, they capitalized on turnovers scoring twenty points off them and added another sixteen through fast breaks.


On individual performances for Texas Tech, players fought hard under both baskets securing twenty defensive rebounds and six offensive ones contributing to a total rebound count of twenty-three for their side. They also made eleven two-point shots out of twenty-three attempts resulting in about a forty-eight percent success rate from close range.


Conversely, despite matching up with nine steals as well, The University of Texas Longhorns had better control over ball possession which is evident from their seventeen assists compared to eight by The Lady Raiders. Their rebounding was particularly dominant; grabbing thirty-six boards including nineteen defensively and thirteen offensively that helped them score twenty-three second-chance points.


The Longhorns' free throw accuracy played a crucial role as well; sinking seventy-eight percent of their shots from the line contributed significantly to maintaining their lead over The Lady Raiders who managed sixty-seven percent free throw accuracy.
