Lady Raiders Stumble Against Longhorns' Defense in Home Court Showdown

The Texas Tech Lady Raiders faced a challenging contest against the visiting Texas Longhorns, ending with a scoreboard that read 74-47. The Lady Raiders, unranked and striving to make their mark this season, now hold a record of 0-1. Meanwhile, the 10th-ranked Longhorns improved to 1-0.

Texas Longhorns VS Texas Tech Lady Raiders

The game at United Supermarkets Arena saw the Lady Raiders struggle to find their rhythm against a robust Longhorn defense. The home team managed only 33 percent from both the field and three-point range, converting just six of their eighteen attempts from beyond the arc. Despite being more successful at free throws with an accuracy of 65 percent, making eleven out of seventeen shots, it wasn't enough to close the gap.

The Texas Tech squad fought hard on defense but was outrebounded by the Longhorns who grabbed a total of 42 rebounds compared to the Lady Raiders' 24. The home team did manage five blocks over four quarters but still fell short in limiting their opponents' scoring opportunities.

Offensively for Texas Tech, turnovers proved costly as they gave up possession twenty-five times which led to twenty-nine points for Texas off those turnovers. In contrast, they could only capitalize on nine points from turnovers themselves. Their assist-to-turnover ratio stood at a lowly 0.39 indicating struggles in maintaining possession and creating scoring chances.

On the other side of the court, despite committing eighteen turnovers themselves and having an assists turnover ratio slightly better than that of Texas Tech at 0.76, the Longhorns executed well offensively throughout all four quarters with consistent scoring: putting up twenty-three points in Q1 followed by seventeen in Q2 then twenty-one in Q3 and finally thirteen points as they closed out Q4.

Texas's field goal percentage was significantly higher at forty-seven percent overall; they were particularly dominant inside painting where they scored forty points compared to fourteen by TTU. Their three-point shooting was not as effective though with only twelve percent accuracy but it didn't hinder them much given their strong two-point presence where they shot fifty-two percent.

Looking ahead for TTU fans eager to support their team after this tough loss: The next game will be held right here at United Supermarkets Arena against Kansas Jayhawks on January 6th starting at 2 PM Central Time Zone (CT). Fans can catch all action live as it unfolds on court without missing any beat!
