The game was held at Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, where 1,300 fans witnessed an intense battle that saw 12 ties and 15 lead changes throughout the four quarters. The Green Wave started strong with 17 points in the first quarter but struggled to maintain momentum scoring only 11 points each in both second and third quarters before rallying back with a robust 21-point finish in the fourth quarter.

Tulane's offense was led by their impressive paint presence where they scored 40 of their total points. Their two-point shooting was particularly effective as they made over half of their attempts from within this range at a rate of fifty-two percent. However, they found less success beyond the arc, converting only nineteen percent of three-point shots.

Defensively, Tulane managed to secure six steals and amassed an impressive total rebound count of forty which included fourteen offensive rebounds contributing to twelve second-chance points. Despite not recording any blocks during this encounter, they showed tenacity on defense reflected by seventeen personal fouls committed over the course of play.

A key aspect for Tulane was ball distribution; sixteen assists were recorded showing good movement and teamwork on offense which resulted in an assist-turnover ratio slightly above one. Unfortunately for them though turnovers proved costly; fifteen turnovers were committed by players which allowed Wichita State to capitalize with twelve points off these mistakes.

On Wichita State's side, free throws played a significant role as they made seventy percent from the line compared to Tulane's forty-four percent conversion rate. The Shockers also outpaced Tulane on fast break opportunities scoring ten fast break points while limiting Tulane to just four such points.

Looking ahead after this close contest against Wichita State Shockers at Charles Koch Arena, fans can anticipate another exciting matchup when The Green Wave travel next to face Tulsa Golden Hurricane at Donald W. Reynolds Center located at Tulsa on January 2nd scheduled for a tip-off time around 6:30 PM local time (Central Time).
