Clash at Alaska Airlines Center: UAB Blazers vs Eastern Kentucky Colonels in Women's Basketball Showdown

As the University of Alabama at Birmingham Blazers prepare to face off against the Eastern Kentucky Colonels at the Alaska Airlines Center, fans are buzzing with anticipation for what promises to be an electrifying game of women's basketball. The Blazers, coming off a dominant performance on November 14th against the Western Carolina Lady Catamounts with a resounding 81-56 victory, are looking to carry that momentum into their upcoming match.

UAB Blazers VS Drake Bulldogs

The UAB team showcased their prowess in both offense and defense during their last home game. They outperformed the Lady Catamounts across various statistics, including a higher field goal percentage (45 percent) and free throw percentage (72 percent). Their defensive efforts were equally impressive, with 8 blocks and 10 steals contributing to a significant number of points off turnovers (24). The Blazers also demonstrated excellent ball movement with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.43.

In contrast, when examining their performance against Alabama A&M Bulldogs on November 6th where they secured a tighter win with a score of 70-63, it is evident that UAB can maintain composure under pressure. Despite lower shooting from beyond the arc (20 percent three-point percentage), they excelled in free throws making an impressive 81 percent. This ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities from fouls could be crucial in close games.

However, it would be unwise to underestimate the Eastern Kentucky Colonels who will have home-court advantage this time around. In one of their recent games against Western Kentucky Lady Toppers on March 9th during Conference USA - Quarterfinal 3, UAB fell short by just four points (67-71). This loss highlighted areas for improvement as they head into this challenging away game environment.

The upcoming battle will test UAB's resilience and adaptability as they navigate playing away from home turf. Fans should expect intense competition but can take solace in knowing that if past performances are any indicator, UAB has shown they have both offensive firepower and defensive tenacity needed to triumph over adversity.

Blazers supporters should mark their calendars for November 19th at Alaska Airlines Center where tip-off is scheduled for what equates to November 18th at 9:15 PM local Anchorage time due to timezone differences. For those unable to make it all the way up north but eager not miss out on any action-packed moments – stay tuned for broadcast details which are yet forthcoming.
