UAB Blazers Set to Ride the Wave at Tulane's Devlin Fieldhouse

As the University of Alabama at Birmingham Blazers prepare to face off against the Tulane Green Wave, fans are looking forward to what promises to be an electrifying encounter. The Blazers, coming off a mixed bag of performances, are set to take on their opponents at the Devlin Fieldhouse in New Orleans.

Tulane Green Wave VS UAB Blazers

In their last game on December 21st against Saint Joseph's Hawks, UAB scored 57 points but fell short as they conceded 63. Despite a strong third and fourth quarter where they scored 16 points in each, it wasn't enough to secure victory. The team showed resilience with a free throw percentage of 85 and a three-point percentage of 40, but turnovers were an issue with a total of 13 for the game.

However, looking back at another recent performance on December 20th against Wagner Seahawks in the semifinals - Game 2 shows that UAB can indeed turn up the heat when needed. Dominating Wagner with a scoreline of 79-39 was no small feat. Their aggressive defense led to an impressive number of steals (14) and points off turnovers (34), showcasing their ability to capitalize on their opponent's mistakes.

The Blazers' home game against South Carolina State Lady Bulldogs on December 12th further highlighted their defensive prowess with eight steals and four blocks contributing significantly towards their win scoring them at least nine second-chance points.

The upcoming clash will test UAB's consistency and ability to maintain pressure throughout all quarters while managing turnovers better than they did against Saint Joseph’s Hawks. The Green Wave will not make it easy for them; however, given Tulane’s home advantage and likely preparation for UAB’s aggressive defense strategies.

Fans should expect UAB Blazers' coach Randy Norton likely emphasizing ball control and shot selection during practices leading up to this matchup after analyzing past performances. If they can replicate or exceed their performance from December 20th while keeping personal fouls low as they did against South Carolina State Lady Bulldogs (15 personal fouls), there is every reason for optimism among fans.

The scheduled date for this highly anticipated match is February 8th; tip-off time has yet been announced but rest assured that supporters can catch all the action from New Orleans’ Devlin Fieldhouse where these two teams will battle it out on court.
