UCLA Bruins Edge Past USC Trojans at Galen Center in Women's Basketball Showdown

The University of California, Los Angeles Bruins secured a narrow victory over the University of Southern California Trojans with a final score of 59-56. The UCLA Bruins now hold a record of 10-0, maintaining their undefeated streak, while the USC Trojans fall to a record of 0-1.

In an intense matchup at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, the UCLA Bruins displayed remarkable resilience and teamwork. The game saw five ties and three lead changes, indicating how closely contested it was from start to finish. The Bruins' defense was particularly noteworthy as they managed to block five shots and steal the ball seven times from their opponents.


Offensively, the UCLA team showed versatility by scoring 36 points in the paint and adding another eight on fast breaks. Their second-chance points were significant as well; they scored 23 points following offensive rebounds. Despite shooting only 13 percent from beyond the arc with three made three-pointers out of twenty-three attempts, they maintained efficiency inside by making twenty-one out of fifty two-point attempts for a forty-two percent completion rate.

The free throw line also played a crucial role in this tight contest; UCLA made eight out of eleven free throws which translated into seventy-three percent success rate. This proved vital in securing their win over USC who managed only sixty percent from their free throws.


On top of that, rebounding was key for UCLA as they dominated with forty-seven total rebounds compared to USC's thirty-six. Nineteen offensive rebounds contributed greatly to their second-chance opportunities which kept them ahead despite being closely trailed by USC throughout all four quarters.

The home team put up an admirable fight against their rivals with nineteen field goals made out of fifty-five attempts resulting in thirty-five percent shooting accuracy. They also had better luck with long-range shots hitting six out of sixteen three-pointers giving them thirty-eight percent success rate from downtown.
