The Bruins showcased a robust defense and an efficient offense throughout the game. The Huskies struggled to find their rhythm against the Bruins' tenacious defensive play, managing only nine points in the opening quarter and ending with a mere 44 points. Despite shooting just 31 percent from the field, identical to their opponents, UCLA capitalized on turnovers and executed well from the free-throw line with an impressive 91 percent accuracy.

UCLA's offensive rebounds were particularly noteworthy; they grabbed 16 compared to Washington's nine. This effort contributed significantly to second-chance opportunities where UCLA outscored Washington seven points to four. Furthermore, UCLA's ability to convert turnovers into points was evident as they scored 13 points off turnovers while limiting Washington to nine.

The home team also demonstrated superior ball distribution with a total of 16 assists which is indicative of their cohesive team play. In contrast, Washington managed only ten assists throughout the game. Additionally, UCLA maintained better control over possession as evidenced by fewer player turnovers (13) compared to Washington's (16).

On defense, both teams were relatively even with blocks; however, it was clear that UCLA had an edge in this area too with four blocks against five attempts by Washington while also stealing possession five times during play.
