The USC Trojans set the tone early on by outscoring Stanford in the first quarter with 22 points to their opponent's 17. Although they faced a more challenging second quarter, scoring only 18 points compared to their initial burst, they maintained their lead over Stanford's additional 14 points. The third quarter saw a dip for USC with just 13 points; however, they rebounded strongly in the fourth quarter adding another commanding 21 points to seal their triumph.

USC's performance was bolstered by remarkable shooting accuracy from beyond the arc where they achieved a three-point percentage of 45 percent making nine out of twenty attempts. Their free throw precision was even more striking as they netted an outstanding rate of ninety-two percent from the line. This sharpshooting contributed significantly to their overall field goal percentage which stood at forty percent.

The defensive prowess displayed by USC included seven steals and three blocks while forcing twelve turnovers from Stanford players which translated into twenty-one crucial points off turnovers for USC. Additionally, despite committing one foulout and fourteen personal fouls themselves, it did not deter them from maintaining control over both ends of the court.
