Utah Utes Dominate at Jon M. Huntsman Center in Women's Basketball Showdown Against Weber State Wildcats
The Utah Utes, ranked 11th, delivered a commanding performance against the Weber State Wildcats with a final score of 89-36. The Utes' season record now stands at an impressive 11-0, while the Wildcats fall to a challenging season with a record of 0-1.
In front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Jon M. Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City, the Utah Utes women's basketball team showcased their dominance on both ends of the court against their opponents from Weber State. The home team's offense was firing on all cylinders as they amassed an impressive total of 89 points throughout the game, with consistent scoring across all four quarters: starting strong with 22 points in the first and peaking at 25 points in the third quarter.
The Utes' shooting accuracy was particularly noteworthy; they achieved a field goal percentage of about 52 percent and were even more precise from two-point range, hitting approximately 65 percent of those attempts. Their prowess from beyond the arc was also on display as they sank about 40 percent of their three-point shots.
Defensively, Utah was just as formidable. They outrebounded Weber State by a significant margin with a total rebound count of around 47 compared to their opponent's total rebounds which stood around only half that number at approximately 27. The defensive effort included securing around twice as many defensive rebounds and contributing to four blocked shots over the course of play.
Weber State Wildcats struggled to find their rhythm throughout the game, managing only about one-quarter (26 percent) field goal success rate and faring slightly better from three-point territory with nearly one-fourth (24 percent) efficiency. Despite showing tenacity with steals totaling eleven and causing turnovers that led to ten points off turnovers for them, it wasn't enough to challenge Utah’s solid gameplay.
The home team also demonstrated excellent teamwork with around two dozen assists leading to scores compared to nine by Weber State Wildcats. This passing efficiency contributed significantly to Utah’s high-scoring output and reflected well-coordinated offensive efforts throughout each quarter.
Looking ahead for fans eager to follow their beloved team’s progress; The next challenge for University of Utah will be away against Colorado Buffaloes at CU Events Center located in Boulder on December 30th scheduled for an evening tip-off time broadcasted live on Pac-12 Network where supporters can tune in for coverage.
