UTEP Miners Eye Redemption Against Sam Houston Bearkats at Von Braun Center

As the UTEP Miners prepare to face off against the Sam Houston Bearkats, fans are looking for signs of a turnaround after a string of challenging games. The upcoming clash at the Von Braun Center is more than just another game on the schedule; it's an opportunity for redemption.

UTEP Miners VS Sam Houston State Bearkats

The Miners' recent performance on March 8 against Florida International Panthers was less than stellar, with a disappointing 62-88 loss. Despite putting up a respectable 34 points in the paint and capitalizing on turnovers with 19 points, their defensive efforts fell short as they allowed the Panthers to dominate with an impressive 88-point game finish. The Miners struggled particularly from beyond the arc and from the charity stripe, hitting only 27 percent of three-point attempts and making just over half of their free throws.

However, it wasn't all gloom in previous outings. On March 2 against Liberty Flames, UTEP showed flashes of brilliance despite falling short by a score of 63-80. They managed to keep their turnovers low at six and shot a solid 75 percent from the free-throw line. This kind of disciplined play will be crucial when they take on SHSU.

The Bearkats come into this game with their own set of strengths and weaknesses. Their aggressive defense could pose challenges for UTEP's scorers if not properly navigated. However, if UTEP can harness some consistency in shooting while maintaining strong defense under pressure – something they demonstrated during their victory over Jacksonville State Gamecocks on March 1 – there's no reason why they can't emerge victorious.

UTEP must focus on improving their assists-to-turnover ratio which stood at merely 0.75 against FIU; ball movement will be key to breaking down SHSU's defense. Additionally, increasing offensive rebounds could provide those much-needed second-chance points that often make or break tight games.

Looking ahead to March 12 at Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama, tip-off is scheduled for sharp at 5:30 PM local time (Central Time). Fans who have been following this season know that resilience has been part of UTEP's identity – now is when it needs to shine through most prominently.

For those unable to attend in person, catching live action will be possible through local sports networks or streaming services that carry women’s college basketball games – ensuring no one misses what promises to be an enthralling encounter between two determined teams.
