The game was held at UNT Coliseum in Denton, where 1,826 spectators witnessed a battle that saw five ties and seven lead changes. The University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners displayed remarkable resilience throughout the four quarters. They started off trailing by one point in the first quarter but managed to gain momentum as they scored 14 points against North Texas's 13. The second and third quarters saw an equal exchange of baskets with both teams scoring 16 points each quarter.

The Roadrunners' offense was fueled by their impressive field goal percentage which stood at forty-one percent from their total attempts. Their three-point attempts were also notable as they made eight out of twenty-seven shots taken from beyond the arc, translating to thirty percent accuracy. Inside the paint proved to be fruitful for UTSA as they accumulated thirty-two points.

Defensively, UTSA showed prowess with six steals and four blocks during the game. Their rebounding efforts were commendable; they pulled down thirty-five rebounds—nineteen defensive and twelve offensive—contributing significantly to their second-chance opportunities which garnered them fifteen additional points.

However, North Texas did manage better efficiency from free throws making sixteen out of twenty-six shots giving them sixty-two percent success rate.
