Virginia Cavaliers' Late Surge Falls Short Against Virginia Tech Hokies at John Paul Jones Arena

The Virginia Cavaliers faced off against the Virginia Tech Hokies in a closely contested game at John Paul Jones Arena. The Cavaliers, now holding a 0-1 record, fell just short with an 82-83 loss to the Hokies, who improved their record to 1-0. Despite a valiant effort in the latter half of the game, the home team couldn't quite overcome their early deficit.

First Quarter


The opening quarter saw the Hokies take control early on with a commanding performance that netted them 27 points. The Cavaliers struggled to find their rhythm and managed only 13 points during this period. The visitors capitalized on fast breaks and efficient shooting to establish an early lead.


Second Quarter


In the second quarter, both teams tightened up defensively. The Cavaliers improved slightly but still trailed as they added another 15 points compared to the Hokies' 16. Caitlin Weimar's presence was felt as she contributed significantly under the basket for Virginia.


Third Quarter


The third quarter marked a turning point for the Cavaliers as they mounted an impressive comeback attempt by scoring 29 points. Paris Clark led this charge with her dynamic playmaking abilities and crucial assists that kept her team within striking distance of their rivals.
