The Hokies showcased their dominance early on, setting the tone with a solid first quarter lead. As the game progressed, they maintained their advantage through consistent scoring in each quarter. The home team's offensive efforts were bolstered by an impressive shooting accuracy from inside the arc, hitting 53 percent of their two-point attempts.

Defensively, Virginia Tech was just as formidable. They outrebounded the Eagles with a total rebound count of 51 compared to Boston College's 29. This included an overwhelming number of offensive rebounds by Virginia Tech which stood at 20 – showcasing their tenacity and hunger for second-chance points that ultimately resulted in an additional 20 points for the team.

Virginia Tech also demonstrated superior ball distribution with a total of 17 assists throughout the game. Their ability to share and move the ball effectively was evident and played a key role in breaking down Boston College's defense.

On individual performances, it was not just about scoring but also about making crucial plays on both ends of the court for Virginia Tech. The defensive effort included five blocks that helped stifle Boston College's attempts to penetrate inside.

Boston College did put up resistance despite being outplayed overall. They managed to convert five three-pointers and capitalized on turnovers by scoring 16 points off them. However, they struggled from behind the arc overall with only a thirty-three percent success rate and were less effective from free throw line making only half of their shots.

The Eagles' tenacity was reflected in their steals tallying up to ten for this encounter but it wasn't enough against Virginia Tech’s robust gameplay which saw them leading comfortably during most parts of this conference game attended by nearly nine thousand fans at Cassell Coliseum.

Looking ahead, fans can mark their calendars for another exciting match-up as Virginia Tech will host Duke Blue Devils at Cassell Coliseum on February 15th at eight o'clock PM Eastern Time. This upcoming game will be broadcast nationally on ACC Network channel six hundred twelve where supporters can tune in to follow all live action from Blacksburg.
