Virginia Tech Hokies Face Tough Battle Against Ranked North Carolina State Wolfpack

In a challenging encounter at Reynolds Coliseum, the Virginia Tech Hokies fell to the North Carolina State Wolfpack with a final score of 57-85. The loss moves the Hokies' season record further down, while the Wolfpack, ranked 20th nationally, bolstered their impressive standing with another win.

Hokies' Efforts and Standout Performances


Despite the tough competition, several Virginia Tech players showed commendable performances. Carys Baker led her team with 15 points and showcased her defensive skills by blocking two shots. Carleigh Wenzel was not far behind, contributing 18 points and securing four rebounds for her team. Additionally, Leila Wells added six points to the scoreboard and provided valuable support by dishing out two assists.


The Hokies struggled to find their rhythm throughout the game but managed to put up a fight in each quarter. Their efforts were reflected in their scoring breakdown: 12 points in the first quarter followed by an improved performance in the second quarter with 17 points. However, consistency eluded them as they scored 14 points in both the third and fourth quarters.


Wolfpack's Dominance


The North Carolina State Wolfpack demonstrated why they are one of the top teams this season. With a balanced attack that saw them scoring over 15 points in every quarter and peaking at 29 points in the first quarter alone, they kept pressure on Virginia Tech throughout the game. Their offensive prowess was matched by their defense which forced a total of thirteen turnovers from Virginia Tech.


Key players for North Carolina State included those who capitalized on fast break opportunities contributing to their total of twenty fast break points and dominated inside with fifty points coming from within paint areas.
