Wake Forest Demon Deacons Secure Victory at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Women's Basketball

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons faced off against the Marshall Thundering Herd at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, with the home team securing a 66-59 victory. The Demon Deacons now stand with an improved record, while the Thundering Herd dropped further this season.

The game started off challenging for the Wake Forest team as they trailed behind in the first quarter with only 10 points to Marshall's 17. However, as the match progressed, they gained momentum and outscored their opponents in each subsequent quarter. By halftime, they had narrowed their deficit and continued to build on that success into the second half of play.


Wake Forest's field goal percentage was impressive at 47 percent from all ranges and an exceptional 46 percent from beyond the arc. Their defense was also noteworthy; they blocked seven shots over the course of play while stealing possession seven times from Marshall. This defensive effort contributed significantly to containing their opponents' scoring opportunities.


On offense, Wake Forest excelled in points within paint totaling 34 compared to Marshall’s 18. They also capitalized on turnovers by scoring 11 points off them despite committing a total of 24 turnovers themselves throughout the game. The free throw line saw Wake Forest making 13 out of their attempted 21 shots.


Rebounding was another area where Wake Forest dominated; pulling down a total of 46 rebounds – including nine offensive boards which led to ten second-chance points – showed their control under both baskets. In contrast, Marshall managed only three team rebounds but had a higher number of personal fouls at twenty-five compared to eighteen by Wake Forest.


As for individual performances from Wake Forest players, there were notable contributions across various aspects of gameplay which helped secure this win against a determined opponent.
