Clash at Beasley Coliseum: Washington State Cougars Host Houston in Women's Basketball Showdown

As the Washington State Cougars prepare to host the Houston Cougars at Beasley Coliseum, fans are eager to see if their team can bounce back from a recent setback. The upcoming game on December 17th promises to be a thrilling encounter in women's college basketball.

Washington State Cougars VS Houston Cougars

Washington State's performance has been a rollercoaster this season, with their last game against the Huskies on December 10th ending in a narrow defeat, 60-55. Despite starting slow with only 2 points in the first quarter, WSU showed resilience by rallying back and scoring progressively higher each quarter thereafter. Their field goal percentage stood at 39 percent and they excelled at free throws with an impressive 90 percent accuracy. However, it was not enough to secure victory.

One area where WSU has shown consistent strength is their defense. In their previous matchup before facing the Huskies, they dominated UC Davis Aggies on December 2nd with a commanding score of 77-52. The defensive prowess was evident as they racked up steals and limited turnovers to just eight while forcing eighteen from the Aggies.

The key for WSU will be maintaining that defensive intensity while finding more consistency on offense. Against UC Davis Aggies, they shot over half of their two-point attempts successfully and converted fast break opportunities into an impressive 17 points.

Houston comes into this game with its own set of strengths but will face a tough challenge against WSU's defense which has proven it can disrupt even the best-laid plans of opposing teams.

For Washington State fans looking forward to this encounter, there is reason for optimism based on past performances and potential for improvement shown by players throughout these games. If they can harness that same energy from their victory over UC Davis and tighten up offensively early in the game unlike what happened against Huskies, there’s every chance that victory could be theirs.

The scheduled tip-off is set for December 17th at Beasley Coliseum in Pullman at 2:00 PM local time (5:00 PM ET). Fans won’t want to miss out on what promises to be an exciting match-up between these two teams; all action will be broadcasted live on Pac-12 Network.
