West Virginia Mountaineers Dominate at WVU Coliseum Against Loyola Greyhounds

In a commanding display of basketball, the West Virginia Mountaineers outplayed the Loyola Greyhounds with a final score of 74-39. The Mountaineers now stand with an improved record, while the Greyhounds face another setback in their season's performance.

Toledo Rockets VS West Virginia Mountaineers

The game at WVU Coliseum saw the home team, West Virginia Mountaineers, take control from the start. With an initial lead in the first quarter by two points, they expanded their dominance by halftime with a combined score of 35 points to Loyola's mere 18. The third quarter was particularly impressive for the Mountaineers as they racked up 24 points against Loyola's 12, showcasing their offensive capabilities.

The West Virginia team excelled in three-point shooting with an outstanding accuracy rate of 52 percent compared to just 13 percent from the Greyhounds. This sharpshooting contributed significantly to their lead and was complemented by their defensive efforts that led to stealing possession from Loyola twelve times throughout the game.

Moreover, West Virginia capitalized on turnovers scoring 26 points off them and displayed efficient ball movement which resulted in fourteen assists. Their rebounding was also superior; they gathered a total of seventy rebounds - more than half again as many as Loyola's forty-four - which included fifteen offensive boards leading to eleven second-chance points.

On defense, West Virginia blocked three shots and kept personal fouls to just eight compared to twenty from Loyola. They also managed seventeen fast break points which kept them ahead comfortably throughout all four quarters.

Loyola (MD) Greyhounds did show some resilience despite being overpowered overall. They managed ten steals and one block but struggled with shooting efficiency across both field goals and three-point attempts. Their highest-scoring quarter was the first where they put up sixteen points but could not maintain that pace for the rest of the game.

Fans of The West Virginia Mountaineers will be looking forward to seeing if their team can maintain this level of performance when they next play away against Pittsburgh Panthers at Petersen Events Center on November 11 at seven o'clock PM Eastern Time. While no broadcast networks have been announced yet for this matchup between these two teams, fans are encouraged to stay tuned for updates on where they can catch live action.
