The home team's performance was marked by impressive defensive pressure resulting in 17 steals which contributed significantly to their points off turnovers tallying up to 26. This defensive tenacity was complemented by an efficient offense that boasted a field goal percentage of 46 and an even more remarkable three-point shooting accuracy of 48 percent. The Mountaineers made good use of their opportunities from beyond the arc, sinking 13 three-point shots.

West Virginia also demonstrated strong teamwork with a total of 17 assists matching that of the Cyclones but with a superior assists turnover ratio of 1.31 compared to Iowa State's ratio which stood at just over half that amount. Despite committing more personal fouls than their opponents, totaling up to 22 infractions, it did not deter them from maintaining control throughout the game.

The Cyclones put forth a valiant effort on offense as well, converting two-thirds of their two-point attempts and achieving an admirable free throw percentage rounding up near perfection at approximately eighty-three percent. They also outrebounded West Virginia with a total rebound count standing at thirty-six against twenty-seven for the home team.

However, it was ultimately West Virginia's ability to capitalize on turnovers combined with sharpshooting from distance that sealed the win for them. The Mountaineers' fast break points were another highlight as they edged out Iowa State nine to five in this aspect.

Looking ahead for fans eager to follow their beloved team's progress; West Virginia will next face off against UCF Knights on January thirtieth at seven o'clock PM Eastern Time right here in Morgantown at WVU Coliseum. This upcoming match can be watched live on ESPN+, ensuring supporters won't miss any action as West Virginia continues its campaign through the season.
