Cowgirls Narrowly Outpaced in Overtime Clash with Lady Rebels

The Wyoming Cowgirls, after a hard-fought battle that extended into overtime, fell short against the Lady Rebels with a final score of 60-63. The Cowgirls now stand at an even keel in their season record, while the Lady Rebels improved theirs. Despite the loss, the home team displayed commendable effort on their home court at Arena-Auditorium.

Wyoming Cowboys VS UNLV Runnin' Rebels

From tip-off to the final buzzer, fans witnessed an intense matchup between the Wyoming Cowgirls and UNLV's Lady Rebels. The game was marked by frequent lead changes and ties that kept spectators on edge throughout regulation time and beyond. The Cowgirls opened strong with a 15-point performance in the first quarter but were met with resistance as both teams locked horns fiercely.

The Cowgirls showcased a balanced offensive effort led by their ability to distribute the ball effectively, racking up 18 assists over UNLV's four. Their two-point field goal percentage stood slightly higher than their opponents at 47 percent compared to UNLV's 44 percent. However, struggles from beyond the arc and from free-throw line were evident as they shot just 23 percent for three-pointers and made only half of their free throws.

Defensively, Wyoming managed four steals and two blocks but could not contain UNLV's push inside the paint where they conceded 36 points. Additionally, personal fouls became a concern for them as they accumulated more than UNLV—18 compared to 13—which may have impacted their defensive solidity late in the game.

UNLV capitalized on this aspect by converting free throws at an impressive rate of 72 percent which proved crucial in overtime where every point was pivotal. They also outrebounded Wyoming significantly with a total rebound count of 48 against Wyoming’s more modest tally of 37 rebounds.

Despite these challenges, it was not all gloom for Wyoming fans; there were moments when it seemed like victory was within reach especially when considering points off turnovers—Wyoming outdid UNLV here nine to four—and second-chance points where they trailed narrowly eight to nine.

Looking ahead after this nail-biter encounter is another conference game set for February 24th at Arena-Auditorium against New Mexico Lobos scheduled for a tip-off at noon local time (2:00 PM Eastern Time). Fans eager to support can catch live action as it unfolds either courtside or through broadcast channels dedicated to bringing every pass, shot, and defensive play right into homes across Cowboy State and beyond.
